REGISTRATION SCHEME
The project is part-funded by Bournemouth Youth Service (BYS). In order to access support groups must register with the project and through this with BYS.
Any youth organisation making provision for young people between the ages of 13 and 19 years can apply. (An organisation with members outside of this age range may apply for registration provided at least 50% of the membership is between 13 and 19 years.)

Voluntary Youth Organisations registered with the project will be eligible to apply for support from BYS including:
To participate in Training Opportunities for Youth Workers and Senior Members.
To participate in events organised by Bournemouth Youth Service.
To borrow or hire items of equipment and make use of various curriculum resources.
To receive a copy of information circulars periodically issued by Bournemouth Youth Service.
To receive Professional advice and support from the Officers of Bournemouth Youth Service and BCVS.
To receive CRB checks for all workers
To receive assistance with the writing of policy development and procedures
To participate in forums
To participate in networking events
To receive assistance with charity registration
To receive assistance with the writing of business plans
To receive support and information on recruitment and employment
To receive support on management and governance
To be consulted around issues affecting young people
To receive signposting to other services and agencies
This list is by no means exhaustive
A Registered Voluntary Youth Organisation should comply with the following conditions:
The organisation will operate within the Borough of Bournemouth and the majority of its members will reside within the Borough.
The organisation will exist primarily to cater for the social, political, cultural and physical development of young people through recreational and leisure time activities.
The aims and objectives of the organisation will reflect the Bournemouth Youth Service Statement of Purpose and the organisation are encouraged to support the social education objectives contained within the Youth Service Curriculum.
The organisation will meet regularly.
The organisation will have a Management Committee or Governing body which will include not less than five adults. This Committee will meet at least three times each year to carry out its main duties:
• To undertake legal, financial and moral responsibility.
• To effect Public Liability Insurance cover.
• To define and supervise the general policy of the organisation
• To be responsible for the provision of adequate leaders/workers and to ensure the suitability of adults who have unsupervised access to young people by use of the procedures for clearance under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 operated by the Local Authority, or by an agreed equivalent clearance system.
• To endeavour to ensure the continuity of the existence of the group and its leadership.
• The provision of a safe environment for all activities.
The organisation will, as far as possible, encourage the practice of shared decision making between Management Committee, Workers and Young People. Bournemouth Youth Service is committed to the principles of empowerment, participation and equal opportunities and encourages registered youth organisation to adopt these principles wherever possible.
The organisation will be free from party political bias.
The organisation will welcome members and officers from Bournemouth Borough Council to its activities, and on request, to meetings of its Management Committee or Governing Body.
