The event supports Lewis-Manning Hospice and Wessex Autistic Society.

Entry is just £5! - 30 minute record attempt class and then a 45 minute celebratory class.

Family Fun Day

Type of Event : Circus themed Fun day for all the Family

A fun loving group of students from the Events Management department at Bournemouth University have organised a Family Fun Day on behalf of Bournemouth Society for the Visually Impaired. The purpose of the day is to help raise awareness of sight loss and the support and services BSVI can provide whuilst having fun at the same time.
The Event will have a Circus theme involving games and fun activities which will highlight how sight loss can affect everyday life, eg biscuit decorating (whilst blindfold) and Guess what's in the Box, as well as other popular activities such as Face Painting and a Raffle.

Entrance is free and there will be something for everyone! It will also be a great way to end the half term holiday so do come along and join in the fun!!

Love's Labour's Lost

Type of Event : Course for Adults

An exploration of the play "Love's Labour's Lost" by William Shakespeare. Analysis of the plot, themes and language to include discussion of the historical and cultural background. 6 weekly Sessions £50 (£42 if booked before 7 Feb). This course coincides with the 2012 Production by Brownsea Open Air Theatre to which it is hoped to run a group booking during the summer (at additional cost). Join the Wessex Autistic Society and celebrate the Easter with this rewarding family day out and take part in the 2k fun run or challenge yourself with a 10k run. Starting at ChapelGate Sports Ground in Parley, this muti-terrain Easter theme run finishes at the Chairty's Portfield School.

Identifying Wild Plants
Time : 10.30
Location : Kilwood Reserve (SY933 825), near Corfe Castle
Type of Event : Field Excursion

In this field excursion we will visit two adjacent Dorset Wildlife Trust reserves at Kilwood and Stonehill Down ( SY 933 825), on the Isle of Purbeck, to identify the spring flowers to be found in contrasting habitats. There will be further opportunities to see birds and some early insects. Stout footwear is recommended together with waterproofs in case of rain. Either bring a packed lunch or purchase refreshments at the New Inn, Church Knowle (near Corfe Castle). Leader John Wright.

Pathological Demand Avoidance Conference

The Wessex Autistic Society are hosting their annual conference on Wednesday 16th May 2012 at AFC Bournemouth. It will provide professionals and parents with a clearer understanding of Pathological Demand Avoidance Syndrome(PDA). Topics to include: Understanding PDA, Learn how to manage behaviour at home, Strategies for teaching Children with PDA and hearing a personal perspective on living with PDA.
Prices are: £95 for professionals, and £50 for parents and people with Autism. A 10% discount is available if booking before the 31st Jan 2012 and for groups of 3 or more. All prices are fully inclusive of conference documentation, lunch and refreshments.
